Don was unable to let the story go without making sense of it.  He could not let go of the wonder and curiosity of this one person who had entered his life only to be lost. Don, in midlife admits to a life he loves and has no regrets about yet still goes on a mission to find Mimsy or at least find answers to what happened to this woman he once loved. Was she doing great things as she had dreamed and spoken of as a young woman? Did she find love and family and stability? The truth is not a fairytale but one that makes you realize that some people have a point when magic and a vision can come true or when one can lose faith and belief in oneself and fall into an existence you think you deserve. An existence, he discovers, was not what he had expected. Her story makes you wonder if Don and she had met up would she have ended up a different person. We don’t know the outcome of a story like that because that is for books of fiction where the author can make it up. This is a true story, of a life lived well and one lived in darkness. The why of it all will not likely be answered but the journey of discovery is well worth reading. It reminds us of how precious our choices are and how integral we are to one another’s lives when we take the time to understand that. ~ Mariel Hemingway’
