While I typically pay little attention to book covers, I must admit that the cover of Mimsy deserves praise for its beauty and calming imagery.

The back-and-forth dynamics of the young lovers as they got to know each other created an engaging cat-and-mouse game. Don's intrigue and desire to understand more about Mimsy contrasted with her reserved and mysterious nature. I appreciated how Don portrayed their friendship, emphasizing the time they spent together without ever growing tired of each other. Their love was pure and genuine, a rarity to encounter. Witnessing their happiness and experiencing a sense of what love truly means was a delight. I also admired Don's character, as he displayed gentlemanly qualities and desired only the best for Mimsy, even if it meant personal sacrifice.

As the author shared his love story, I felt a strong connection. I even shed tears when he experienced heartbreak. Throughout the narrative, I found myself rooting for their love. However, one negative aspect I found in the book was the second half, which contained a lot of speculation. Since this memoir is written by Don about Marilyn, whom he had only known for a few months, their loss of contact severed their communication, and the author had limited knowledge about Mimsy. In an attempt to fill in the gaps, the author conducted extensive research, interviewing her family and friends. Some parts of Mimsy's life were left hanging, while others were filled in by the author's own conjectures. This uncertainty and the author's self-blame for certain tragedies that befell Mimsy puzzled me, considering she was an adult responsible for her own decisions.

Considering the overall reading experience, I rate the book four out of five stars. I deducted one star due to the negative aspect I found, which made the latter half of the memoir less engaging. Professionally, the book was well edited, with only one error discovered. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy memoirs, particularly those with romantic elements."
